    The girlfriends dishwasher broke

It acts as if it doesnt have power. I've checked the breaker, I'd tried finding a fuse somewhere on the unit but no luck. I've made sure all the safety door switches are operating, but without a multi meter I can't really say for certain one of them went bad.

I really don't want to pay for someone to fix it.

I had a problem once with one. I had to shut the breaker off for a few minutes to let it reset.
    I don't know.

I actually tried that too. though when I did the light came on for a split second when I engaged a cycle. No sounds or anything.

sometimes the little metal part doesnt make a good connection when you shut it, or crap gets into it. otherwise could be the control board.

I always hover over repair men and ask them tons of questions. I try to only pay for a repair once. Had a guy fix my washing machine, and while we were talking as he worked, he remarked about "it is usually a clog on this hose" he froze and then said "You are going to fix this yourself from now on aren't you....." I told him "That's why I am sitting here with you, is so I can learn."
          He was cool.
That particular model had a problem with a relay. He showed me how to tell if that was it, and even brought a box the relay comes in I could remember the part number.

I just read that some newer models have a thermal fuse mounted to the control board.
            I don't know.

How long did you shut it off for? Try five or ten minutes.
              I don't know.

when I saw gamgee in this thread I figured he was offering to send one of his daughters over to do some light housekeeping. As long as you guys don't inspect her papers...................

Mines the dishwasher, washing machine and pack mule. Spare the rod, spoil the female!

Edit: Keep your panties on, I'm kidding! I have laundry service come pick up my cloths!

Just go buy a new one. Cheaper then your time and certainly cheaper than a repairmen. They're only about $100
