In light of the Paris attacks, keep your head on a swivel when at any public gatherings or events. I'm no expert, just a few things off of the top of my limited knowledge head. I'm sure others can add to the list.
1. Know where all the exits or routes of egress are. Scout the area beforehand if you can and take mental notes of the layout.
2. Know where everyone in your group is at all times.
3. Keep a good flashlight (preferably two) on your person. These can be bought at Walmart and such places. With the technology today, you don't need to spend a hundred bucks to get a good one anymore. I bought a really nice one with a pocket clip from wally world for 14 dollars.
4. You can use just about anything (belt, straps, scarves) to make a tourniquet, but use the victims own stuff first.
5. Have a good cell phone, and give good descriptions to emergency personnel of what is going on around you.
