For almost 20 years, I've worn some sort of boot to work. Rocky, Magnums, Thorogoods, Danner, Converse (they made a good boot at one time) Sketcher. I also have a nice pair of Dickies steel toes that I bought at Walmart.
I bought them on a whim because I needed boots and hadn't brought any with me, I thought that I'd hate them, but they have actually impressed me so far.
Dickies workwear have a good name over here, I've owned various styles and brandnames over the years.
I've had both good and bad experiences with glued soles, last year I trialed a pair of Karrimor Dales (Budget boot) I really put them through their paces and much to my amazement they'd stood up to everything I threw at them but last month I noticed how worn the tread was (11months later) and they're ready for the bin. The sole wore out not the glue, I've had work boots that haven't even lasted 6 months.
Generally for bushcraft and walking I prefer a combat style boot, to date the best pair of boots I have ever owned were Danners looking worn and tatty but still wearable after years of abuse, followed closely by Hiax combat boots.
Most comfortable boots I've ever owned were these Converse.
I had those. Yes, they are very comfortable, right out of the box. I bought them because of the width of the heel. I have a shitty ankle and when I wore issued combat boots, I would roll my ankle frequently. It still happened occasionally with the converse, but not as much. Much more comfy though.
I just got a new pair of Bates GX8. Got them for 40 bucks off. Plus they had my size which is hard to find. 14 extra wide.
A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!
I know dude. It's a pain in the ass. I was going to order 15 but they said order a size smaller than regular.
