    That's awesome. I'd like one.

Reminds me of when I need to make chum. I go out and net about a ton of menhaden. Take and throw em in a wood chipper with a big pipe on the output. And it makes chum logs. We freeze the logs. Then sell em. Also take the juice and sale em.
A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!

I used to have a portable meat grinder for chuming.
Just toss the mackerel in tail first and grind them to a pulp.

Yep. I have one of them also. Basically a sausage grinder with a small motor on it. Also have a manual one.

I like the chum blocks better because it's less work when your out and less messy when your out.

        But both work just fine.

I like your chum block gig better, but that would require me to have a lot of things to make that happen and I am a lazy cheap ass mother fucker, just so you know. My grinder was just a hand crank, would take it to the jetty and for fishin off the breakwaters.

          Cool Story/

So when I used to spear fish a bit, my and a buddy paddled out to a isolated breakwater to "chum". We took along our chum bucket set up with the grinder, a couple poles to catch some mackerel with and a 5 gallon bucket of beef blood I bought from this German butcher for 8 bucks.

So we start reeling in and making a pile of the mackerel and then ground them up splashing a couple cups worth of beef blood into the mix with each bucket and spreading it out into a slick off the break. For about a hour we did this, then with dumped in the balance of what we had left and put on your fins and jumped into the drink.

We were on the backside of the break so the water was maybe 25ft deep, calmer than the front side and shallower, great place to spear. Next thing I know we see a flash, then another, and before I knew it were were surrounded by a school of sharks, all babies and no more than 3 1/2 feet in length , but there were around 60 of them. Having a baby shark feeding frenzy, it was pretty cool. The bait fish were also all over the place bringing in better game and I nabbed myself a nice sized halibut that day along with a good sized white fish at about 3 feet long. mmmmmmm

Yummy....but never again chummed like that and jumped in.

Ive done the exact same thing. However, in a boat. Can't reach the area otherwise. We have a big tidal flat. Right where it drops off and gets deep we anchor up. Chum like crazy. After about thirty minutes we will have hundreds of baby hammerheads around anywhere from a foot to four feet and the occasional big boy. The hammerheads give birth in the tidal flat. So it's a nursery. You can literally catch them all day. We usually take really light gear, like panfish light, and it gives a crazy fight. The hammerheads are one big muscle. If I have to guarantee a person that we will catch fish then that is where I take em. It's also a good spot to hangout with a girl. Not ruff. Doesn't take along time to get to. Just a good all around place.
