Here's how I built a small cabin in the high Rocky Mountains.
It's not 'perfect' or 'fancy' but it's a lot stronger than most designs as it's designed to withstand heavy snowpack at near 10,000 feet elevation.
It took me one month to build. That's a long time, BUT you should see the terrain I had to get the materials up! LOL
The hardest part (aside from clambering up and down the mountain) was getting the thick logs installed. Also the roof was no easy but again with help from a friend it's doable. The shingle roof was not as difficult as you first imagine.
