Cabin Shed - One of A Kind, accept no substitutes.

Here's how I built a small cabin in the high Rocky Mountains.

It's not 'perfect' or 'fancy' but it's a lot stronger than most designs as it's designed to withstand heavy snowpack at near 10,000 feet elevation.

It took me one month to build. That's a long time, BUT you should see the terrain I had to get the materials up! LOL

The hardest part (aside from clambering up and down the mountain) was getting the thick logs installed. Also the roof was no easy but again with help from a friend it's doable. The shingle roof was not as difficult as you first imagine.

How did you attach the split logs to the corner posts? Did you carry the logs up the mountain or down?

I bet you had fun. It's rewarding to see something you've built.
    I don't know.

That's Dick Proenneke..I think that guy was a badass. He planned on staying there for a year, but ended up staying for decades. He harvested over 2 acres of moss for his roof, made all of his own tool handles, hauled rocks on his back for his foundation and hearth...truly amazing. He ended up donating his cabin and everything in it, to the state. It's a museum now.
