While elk scouting the last week, we did some improvements to the cabin. We finally put in a french drain for the kitcken sink. That was a pain because the ground is very rocky. We had to dig down 6 feet but we did get to throw out the old drain bucket under the sink. We put a 1400 gallon cistern on top the steel shipping container next to the cabin, ran a hose from the shower shack well and filled it up. We added a little bleach. We plumbed it with pvc and put a faucet on the cabin exterior wall, and into the kitchen. Now we have running water. Next up is installing a purifier and fixing the solar set up so we can use the generator less. I wish I owned the camp, but the Senator is very graciously letting us have usage rights in trade for repairs and maintenance.

I do vote for him, he trained mercenary teams at the camp before obama defunded it. We ran a hose from the well 75 yds away to fill the cistern. Among other reasons, you get much better water pressure fro a rooftop cistern then from a 75 yard draw on an unpumped well. It's not the Senators cabin, my son built it for his hunting buddy, the Senator's son in law. I feel really good sleeping in the comfy bed.
