    Dear America: Here's some buffalo

I hope we can trust you with these now, don't fuck it up this time.

    Sincerely,
    Canada

A herd of Alberta-born bison will reconnect with their American roots Monday when 88 calves are brought to pasture in Montana – a move designed to rebuild the species nearly obliterated by hunting over a century ago.

A herd of Alberta-born bison will reconnect with their American roots Monday when 88 calves are brought to pasture in Montana – a move designed to rebuild the species nearly obliterated by hunting over a century ago. Millions of plains bison, also known as buffalo, once roamed free across North America, but their population whittled to around 1,000 in the late-1800s due to large-scale hunting.
Elk Island National Park, located about 40 kilometres east of Edmonton, is working to conserve the population. The Canadian park is home to a herd of genetically pure bison purchased from the U.S. more than 140 years ago.
On Monday, 88 descendants of the original U.S. herd will be relocated to their native plains at the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in Montana,

Read about that. Interesting. Local ranchers pitching a bitch about losing their grazing land and stuff. Local tribes said they have no room to bitch.
    Let’s Go Brandon!!!!!

Yeah, we owned that Buffalo for a while too. Gave it back. History is repeating itself.

There's a herd of 200 a couple miles from me. A couple of Indian ranchers from the confederated tribes have been marketing the meat locally for years, but they are planning to sell them pretty soon and farm something else.

The "supposed" largest herd of bison east of the Mississippi lives about 1/10 of a mile from my house. Used to be a true white buffalo, not a genetic cross, there that Native American groups would come visit.
Give a man a match, & he'll be warm for 20 seconds. But toss that man a white phosphorus grenade and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

A few hid in Canada though, so that's good. You got all the passenger pigeons though, every last one and there were actually billions of those fucking things. Good work there.

got the dodo too. Dont worry. In twenty years, every animal over fifty pounds will be gone. Except livestock and deer.

People don't hunt or fish anymore. I'm looking forward to pulling in giant trout in a decade or two. Everything was fished out when I was young.

First. As population keep expanding. Wild life areas keep getting smaller. Not just talking about here. With increased human population. More deforestation will be needed to feed more humans. Better mechanical farming leaves less food in the fields. Believe me. There would be a million deer in Iowa now if not for this.

Then add pouching. Which is a huge problem around the world. Yeah. There will be animals. Less variety. More nuisance ones like coyotes.

If it wasn't for wild life management even in this country. There wouldn't be a wild cat. Wolf or bear left in this country. Just deer.
Don't worry Canada. You will have big game there longer than here
