    Fishing Thread

One time while at anchor in the Gulf, me and a few others grabbed MWR fishing poles and headed to the fantail.

A Chief buddy of mine from Arizona (important note), stood beside me when I hooked into a fish.

I'm a novice on salt water fish, but I've seen things you know like tv, mags etc.

This fish about 3 feet long jumps out of the water and I tell him "I think I caught a baracuda". Friend goes no that's a (what ever he called it).

OK keep reeling, and fish jumps again. I said "that looks like a baracuda". He says the same fish as he did before.

What do I know I'm from Arkansas. So I reel the fish up the side of the ship and flipped him over the lifelines to the deck.

Fish is a flopping with a mouth full of razor blades and I go, "you sure that's not a baracuda". He goes yeah your right, that's a baracuda.

Morale to the story, don't listen to someone from a desert State about fishing!

I showed my neighbors a couple of fishing holes recently. I guess a week and a half back. One I took them to which has changed a lot was where I had my experience with what may have been a bigfoot. My Niece went with and enjoyed it even though the fish weren't very active.

I haven't fished in many years but my neighbors, a young Army couple stationed here have been talking about going fishing so I volunteered to show them a few spots. My teen aged Niece really likes my neighbors so we planned it for when she was staying over.

I think I know who you're talking about. He was SURFPAC for awhile.

He went and became the Commander of Naval Training when I went up to Great Mistakes as an Instructor. He retired from that position. Many were shocked thinking he had a good shot at CNO. Pretty sharp person.

I think he got bent, because he recommended shutting down Great Lakes, keeping San Diego and Orlando RTCs.

My Ma was a fishing crazy person. Don't be anywhere near her if she gets a bite, because she jerks like she was hooking a whale everytime and you might get smacked in the face with the fishing pole.

One time we weaved ourselves through brush to get a fishing spot on a lake. Snake looking to the max.

Ma would carry a bucket to sit on, so she is all set up and focusing 110% of her attention on her pole.

Me and Pa was standing behind her, out of the danger circle, talking, but keeping an eye on our poles.

Here come this water snake, maybe foot and a half long, comes swimming straight to her. She keeps sitting. We say nothing thinking she sees it and since it's non poisonous put snake on ignore.

That snake swam up right to the bank right between her feet. She happens to look down and loses her mind. Falls backwards off the bucket just a screaming.

We laughed our ass off until she got up lol.
Why didn't you tell me there was a snake. We said we didn't see how you didn't see it swim up right in front of you lol

We all laughed later. We thought the little snaked almost died of a heart attack, never seen him again.
