Make Your Own Gates From Logs!

Been a long-time project to get this ready and I'm NEARLY there.

    The story so far:

It all started back in 2012 when I first arrived up at the Mountain Hold. I could see there was a perfect spot for a main gateway and a secondary one as well.

The private road was quite busy from time to time with traffic, some which would cheekily drive up the entranceway or nose about.

I set about getting a set of gates constructed.

This was no mean feat though as I had to use what materials were about to hand, and until 2014 didn't have access to a chainsaw unless I borrowed a neighbors.

So I hammered, sawed and measured as best I could and got the secondary set of gates mounted and partially ready.

The main gates were only partially done:

Then I had to leave but return I did and got working on finishing off the primary gateway. This time I had two chainsaws and experience from the first time, yet it was still a challenge. I hadn't had time to add bracers to the original gates so had to do that first!

You're fucked if a violent band of beavers comes through.

      Termites are your SHTF.

I'm coming for your shit with chainsaws mounted on the front of my truck.

Neighborhood kids are gonna steal your gate to build a fort.

      I could keep going.

No termites, elevation and climate is too hardcore for them.

Chainsaws? Pffft, the logs have been bonded with metalcore, they eat your chainsaws for breakfast.

Neighborhood kids? Whhsst, they'll need an army of the little bstards to lift the things out! LOL

You would probably do better to just pile up a bunch of logs in that spot. I wouldnt ram a pile of logs. I would however ram the tooth pick barrier there.

The gates are shaking with fright! LOL

Toothpicks indeed. They did pretty good against 10+ft snowpack, so your truck is just a mere dusting of snowflakes.

My truck pushes feet of snow all winter long. 7.3 Diesel. Fuck that stupid gate. Snow pack ain't a 8'6" Western MVP3.

              Point is...buy a metal gate.

Fuck the metal gate! You know what the snowpack did to a neighbors gate? It fucking crushed it! I kid you not.

My gate withstood the effects and laughs at your truck! Try that against my gate and you'd probably burn your clutch out. LOL

Ok, here's a few of the logs that were used:

We're talking *about* 7 inch diameter on average.

Mostly finished, just need a sally-port and sidings...

I always found gated communities to preemptive and arbitrarily preclude the proletariat based on a social class function of wealth stratification. A penchant to bequest a status denouncing an egalitarian climate by an erection of a excluding effigy that is the gate.

Hypocrisy in the form of fear and a function of class warfare, in hopes behind the walls lies a microcosm of an oligarchy; though often manifested in the form of an HOA.

Shame on your gate and its constructor.
