Crazy idea here, but hear me out. What if you took the soil and instead of filling in the logs, you plant the seed in the soil you intended to dig up? Seems like such a crazy idea that I bet it might just work.

I made my raised beds out of spruce logs( birch is toxic to most plants)
They lasted about 10 years or so. No termite up here to worry about.
