I think that is wood sorrel. A cousin of clover. The heart shaped leaves in 3 is a classic sign.

Totally edible but high in Oxalic acid. So you have to do small amounts. I LOVE to make green tea with it. The Oxalic is a harsh vitamin C. So it makes a tangy tea. I love it.

I agree with wood sorrel, I have it too but my variety does not purple. It's hard to kill without killing the grass too.

              What everyone else has said.
It's not the size of the dog, in the fight. It's the size of the fight, in the dog.

it's oxalis, sometimes known as woodland sorrel and sometimes called a shamrock.

It's not in any way shape or form a cousin of clover, which is a nitrogen fixing legume.

It's a giant pain in the arse.

I would try it, but for it being you that's suggesting I eat it. :P

We all die, Abs. Embrace it, for it will come to us all; at some point in our lives.

                        Some sooner, rather than later.

Nope. I died once and was brought back. Therefore it was not at the end of my life, seeing as I'm currently living right now.

                            So, there.

But, generally speaking; you'd be correct.

I'd say like what? 99% of the time, it comes at the end. Just that 1% or whatever percentage it actually is, it doesn't.
