Machete Mod:

So I've had this 5 dollar Harbor Freight machete for two or three years. Yesterday I decided to make it usable. The handle that comes on it is shit, and the blade is really too long IMHO. I decided to make the handle longer and make it a little more user friendly.


I pulled this pic off the net, but it's just like the one I have.

I elongated the handle with a bench grinder, and ground down some of the sawteeth for a thumb rest.

Double wrapped the handle in paracord. I'll field test it tomorrow.

Wont the paracord slip off eventually ? A little epoxy ?

The paracord wrap holds up well, and can always be replaced or refitted. I'm more concerned about it's comfort level. I'm going to pound some shit with it today and see how it feels to my hand. If it's uncomfortable, I'll put a wooden handle on it.

I like wooden handles. They can be molded to the grip so much better than paracord.

Paracord is so preppy prepper. I'd say go with bison horn.

I like that, a wood handle with a raised area on each end or risers in the grip area to prevent the hand from slipping and some paracord in the grip area to make it soft and comfy
