    The Doors Gone Country

Not many people know that the rock band the Doors originally intended to record a country version of their song The Crystal Ship on their first album. It was nixed by the record company, but the lyrics still exist-

    'The Crystal Bass Boat'

Before you slip into your rubber boots
I'd like to kiss ya darlin, shoot
    It really is a hoot
Really is a hoot, did you just toot?

It's sunny out I think it rained
The cattle need a little grain
    Don't run you'll trip and that's insane
It really is a pain to walk out in the rain

Oh call me when the flapjacks fry
Your bacon makes a grown man cry
The liver on the other hand
Just give it to the hired hand

My new bass boat is almost filled
with lures and beer and crusted gills
a drunken way to waste some time
We'll go out there and drop a line

People are strange, when you're a stranger. Women seem wicked, when you're unwanted. Streets seem uneven, when you're down.

I LOVE the Doors! One of my favorite bands, of all time.

PS-People Are Strange, relates to a lot of my past mushroom experiences.

Here's mine. Reminds me of mu Uncles, family nights when my grandparents (dads side) were still alive. Every Thursday night. When my uncles came back from Nam, it was either stories, cries, or frustrated temper tantrums or all 3. My uncle Tony really got fucked up.

              "The Unknown Soldier"

Wait until the war is over
And we're both a little older
              The unknown soldier

Breakfast where the news is read
              Television children fed
              Unborn living, living, dead
              Bullet strikes the helmet's head

              And it's all over
              For the unknown soldier
              It's all over
              For the unknown soldier

              Hut
              Hut
              Hut ho hee up
              Hut
              Hut
              Hut ho hee up
              Hut
              Hut
              Hut ho hee up
              Comp'nee
              Halt
              Preeee-zent!
              Arms!

Make a grave for the unknown soldier
              Nestled in your hollow shoulder
              The unknown soldier

Breakfast where the news is read
              Television children fed
              Bullet strikes the helmet's head

              And, it's all over
              The war is over
              It's all over
              The war is over
              Well, all over, baby
              All over, baby
              Oh, over, yeah
              All over, baby
              Wooooo, hah-hah
              All over
              All over, baby
              Oh, woa-yeah
              All over
              All over
              Heeeeyyyy

I found a 45 of that one with the cover intact. It had that picture of Morrison posed like he was crucified. The one they used for the Dewey Cox movie.:-)

              I lost it though.

There are things known, and things unknown, and in between are the Doors.

I am the lizard king, and I can do anything.

I'm actually wearing a Door's t-shirt now. Not my favorite one, because some fucking cunt stole it years ago. Fucking creep.

They've gone modern classical too. Those of you who are The Doors' die hard fans, you would enjoy this album. Nigel Kennedy can play a lean, mean fiddle.
I bought this fantastic CD 15 years ago and loved it.

I love his stuff. He has some Hendrix out there too. I used to be a drummer in a fusion band and love the time signatures and outside playing.
