Your Thoughts on current super powers and tech.

So who is capable of waging a major war these days? I mean the kink you fight to actually win. Not the group-political battles companies get governments to fight for resources. I mean tooth and nail battles to break the will of an enemy.
Can America sustain a war like that anymore? Do we even have the will to stand for a moral choice?

I think the time is ripe for Russia or India to launch another land grab. China is heavenly vested in Africa and Africa, the land no one gives a shake about is about to become the next high tech proving ground like the Middle East was for the past 50 years. And that just worked out so good.

Russia and NATO joint exercises some time back.

US needs to make legitimate investments in Africa, not just free aid to despots. China has us beat for sure, and if Russia can pull off Syria in spite of US involvement that'd be a major win for Putin.

US needs to walk a lot softer and swing its stick a lot harder. Just my opinion anyway.
This sig didn't cost me any money.

We don't have the hardware or manufacturing capabilities to wage a prolonged major war. We won WWII because of our manufacturing base. Look what it took to boot Iraq out of Kuwait. We don't have the means to even do that again thanks to downsizing. Instead of investing in uber expensive questionable weapons systems, how about more conventional equipment like F15s that don't cost 150 mil each. You can build 3 F-15s for the cost of 1 F-35 that cant out fight a F-15. If we had a major war with China it would take nukes to stop them. They have the numbers!
      Screw diplomacy...........bring it!

I just don't see a large scale conventional war happening between the US of A and China

We aren't going over there for that and they can't get a large number of troops over here easily

We have attack subs off their ports so they would have to swim for it

Not to mention that the Chinese populations is aging quickly

            Russia may be another story

While they wouldn't be able to get large numbers of troops here we are obligated to defend NATO

As far as technology goes I really don't know what their capabilities are and I'm not an expert on our capabilities

I'm not sure how much interest there is in moral choices these days.
                I don't know.

I'm pretty sure our technology outweighs theirs because they steal ours and it takes years to catch up, but we don't have the numbers to back up the technology against an opponent like China. Just our nuclear capabilities far out weighs theirs. But then the MAD scenario comes into play again!

I hope that both sides are satisfied with just making ugly faces at each other and sabre rattling

We don't need any nukes flying back and forth

Picture this scenario. China owns tens of thousands of cargo ships. What if they filled them with equipment and troops, sent them all at once in many different directions, all heading for multiple locations on the west coast of North America, all after setting off nukes over the NA continent for EMP purposes? Do we have the capabilities of stopping them? Nukes wont help much if the ships are scattered all over the pacific and do we have enough airplanes and ships to catch them all? The only good thing is the fact we have 100 million gun owners who might take exception to an invasion. Unless of course Hillary gets elected!

It depends, do we have any warning about their intent to send troops by sea?

If so our submarine fleet could make swimmers out of those troops
