I like the bass, but drums are what put beer in my belly and food on the table. Then I started playing guitar in different bands and eventually switched over. The bass just didn't make the cut.Comment

The bass is the architectural foundation of the music. The most important bit, the most primaeval bit. Well, not counting drums.
You drive the beat but you also drive the dynamics. Go for it.
