    Getting older is fun

And perplexing sometimes. I have a bum knee, my right knee. I twisted the shit out of it a couple of years ago and it's still not 100%. It's often stiff and achy, especially in the morning. So this morning I wake up and my other knee, my left knee is killing me. I didn't think much about it, sometimes I sleep weird and wake up with an achy part and it goes away in a few minutes. Not this time. By the time I got downstairs I could barely walk on that leg. The knee and the ankle both shooting off enough pain that my vision swam a bit. Staggering from the living room to the kitchen for a coffee... I almost didn't make it. This went on for several hours until I googled sudden knee pain. I didn't get anything useful as to cause, but Ibuprofen was recommended to reduce inflammation. I don't usually take painkillers because I find them useless. but I took 2 Advil. I thought maybe they'd make the pain a bit less and I could exercise the joints a bit and maybe lessen the pain. A half hour later the pain was completely gone and the knee and ankle were back to normal. I actually walked around in disbelief. How could that much pain be completely gone? I squatted down on that leg alone several times, nothing, no pain when I could barely walk on it earlier. It's 11 hours later and the leg is still fine, the ibuprofen stopped working long back. What the hell?

Real Steve was younger and didn't wake up crippled without a good reason. Older Steve is wondering what the fuck's next.

You should go back and read his stuff over there. It didn't come across so whiney.

Hey, I said the leg is fine now. I'm not whiny, I'm confused. I'm just hoping some of the folks here even longer in the tooth than me have some experience that can help. How can that much pain appear out of nowhere then disappear a few hours later? That level of pain and sudden physical impairment usually means a serious injury of some sort. But there was no injury. Blood clot?

My left knee is pretty bad so I favor it. I even go left on my walks when I leave the house to put my right side towards the road. The sidewalk slopes to the road slightly and it's easier on the left knee but every now and again the right knee flairs up from the extra work.

I'm stiff when I get up too so I sit on the edge of the bed and stretch my legs before I can stand. It's alright though, it gives me time to think on what I intend to do with my day and to pray.

Don't care for pain meds or muscle relaxers either. My doctor doesn't want me on ibuprofin so i take tylenol.

I'm not that old but the thumb on my picking hand is so screwed up I can hardly play guitar or drums. Which sucks considering Playing has been my whole life, practically. There is no way I can play out now. I guess being double jointed wasn't so cool after all. :-)

weird horrible internal pains. Weird horrible chest pains like you're having a heart attack.

Missing heartbeats. Thickening achilles tendons. carpal tunnel. nose hairs.

My guess is pinched nerve. The ibuprofen reduced the inflammation and relieved the pressure on the nerve.
                            I don't know.
