Well, I'm not sure if I made a mistake or progress. I had only made it about 1/8 of a mile from the in-laws when I hear a pos truck coming. I look back and it was that shitty blue dodge. Luckily, the gate was right there and open so I hopped in and started hiking in the disced mud. He pulls up to the fenced and yells "You hiding?". I said "yes". He said "why?" I replied "because I don't like to be stopped by people." He says "since when?". My response was "since forever.". He gave a harrumph and the woman in the truck with him gave me a dirty look. I'm not sure if I did the right thing. I will probably go back to hiking in the public wilderness so he doesn't run me over.

You're right to be unsure of it. Too many possible scenarios. He's a creepy asshole, that we know. But how creepy? Like, is he just your run of the mill idiot, or do he and his wife keep slaves in an underground shelter? I always go worst case scenario with people like this. Assume he wants to either kidnap or off you, and proceed accordingly. Zero trust, zero wiggle room for him to do anything..
