I do some offroading with a group of mostly Jeep owners. A while back I think I talked about them raising $15k to rebuild and upgrade a guy's Jeep. He is a combat disabled veteran who lost a leg when he was blown up by a mine.
Anyway........ that was a while back, maybe a year?
This isn't a wealthy group. Most of these people are in their twenties and do labor type work.
So this weekend, they are doing another build. It just came up last minute.
There is a 24 year old young man who has cerebral palsy. He is in a chair with shriveled legs and a twisted body.
The guys got a small 4x4 truck and are installing hand controls and a special harness so he can drive it.
There is a big mud fest next weekend, and they are going to get him in with his truck so he can drive and have fun like everyone else.
I am blown away at these people. They have such a community. If someone breaks their Jeep, they scramble to see who has parts or can fabricate one. The whole atmosphere is about helping each other.
I am humbled to be part of the group.
