I know someone who worked a part-time job just for diapers and formula. He got them at cost. The baby he worked for is now a top executive.
I don't know if things work like that in Mexico.

A very long time ago my wife thought about working for them. I forbid it. I told her by the time she clocked out and walked through the store to the car she would have spent more than she made that shift.......

Name, paying them in store credits reminds me very much of the coal miners and the "company store". They didn't get money for a wage. They got tokens. The tokens could only be spent at the company owned store for food and supplies.

Just a different type of indentured servant.
