It is more regular than ever.
I spent the day in a mall today. It was packed. None of the TV's in the food court were tuned in to any news channels. Normally they are. People were on their phones, talking to each other and just being normal holiday shoppers. Which is obviously what the store want. They want people to be happy and shopping..not watching horrible news...I get that. Yet not one person I encountered today mentioned the mass shooting in California. The biggest attack since Sandy Hook.
Today in the news I have heard (on multiple channels) people saying "this is the new normal".
How can this be normal? Why have we come to accept this as just something that happens now?
More importantly, how does this stop? Seriously. Between these fucking kids who think it's now cool to get their name in the news for shooting a bunch of people and then eating a bullet to avoid punishment, and these fucking "extremists" (muslim, christian, leftist...whatever), how can we stop this from becoming Beirut? The more this happens, the worse it's going to get. The attacks will be larger and more violent in nature. The government will be forced to act aggressively. They will ban all "fun guns". We will be allowed to have single shot weapons for hunting, and that's it. It is going to happen sooner than later. I have come to accept that. I lost all my fun guns in a boating accident anyway, and I'm a bow hunter, so I'm good.
I firmly believe that when they do take away most guns, there may be some people who try to fight it, some people will be arrested, it will be big news for a while, but it will lose it's limelight. General society will just take it and comply. Too many people now do not use them anymore.
That action, however, will not stop this. People will still get weapons. People will still harbor evil. islam will still want to destroy us.
Tuning the middle east into glass will not work. If you truly think it will, then you are a fool. That will only fuel the hatred for generations to come.
So how does it stop? What action or process can we as civilians, or our leaders at the helm, take to ensure that this stops? I am starting to lose hope.
