These guys are on par with the retarded sovereign citizen crowd. I was partially sympathetic to the BLM argument of the Bundy group, even though it was basically tax evasion. This has to do with a court case of arson, and not a federal gov't interference. I can assure you this has nothing to do with invasive species, and everything to do with the "this is my land" mentality.
At this point, they are the domestic version of ISIS, taking territory, making their own rules that they like, and defying the ruling gov't. All they are doing to federal ranching is what has been done to federal farming, causing more scrutiny and less future availability for others.Textually Active

I've also been reading that the Hammonds do not desire the militia there and they are mostly (all?) from out of state and were not called to help. So really, the taking of the wildlife refuge is for reasons other than about the Hammonds in my opinion.
But there's so much propaganda on all sides that I recognize I do not have the full truth regarding any of it.
From my point of view, the feds have been encroaching on more and more land for various reason and need to be stopped. They already own more than 1/2 of the West. There are also rumors that they've collateralized some of the national parks and other federally owned land for the national debt. It's ridiculous for a run-away, power hungry, federal govt. to own this much land especially when they're not fiscally accountable. We haven't had a budget since that clown Obama got into office. The entire fed is a BAD, BAD joke which very well may have deadly consequences.
YMMV

Heres a good article.
The activists occupying a federal wildlife refuge in southeastern Oregon remain in good spirits despite the frigid weather, according to a Washington state woman who said she has been communicating with them.
"On Saturday night, after a coordinated and peaceful protest of more than 100 people, a group of at least 15 men, some of them armed, broke off and occupied a federal wildlife refuge, blocked its entryway and declared themselves its rightful owners.
They remained there Sunday night, bundled against freezing temperatures and holding their position in one of the most direct provocations yet of the federal government, and one that has so far gone unchallenged.....cont."
