This is great and all, but I think it's important to form your opinions with some critical thinking.

First of all, why make this commercial? It feels like it's supposed to garner support from people like you by appealing to your emotions instead of actually catching criminals. Then the use of certain buzz words & phrases meant to invoke respect from a certain kind of person. Is this the first guy to actually care about catching criminals? Or is he just trying to get some additional funding for the department or as OP put it, run for some sort of public office? This whole thing feels like it's meant to do something more than what the literal message is.

I would argue that our country has had the "law and order, lock 'em up and throw away the key, bomb them into a parking lot, type mentality" for decades, and that a lot of what we are experiencing now is simply the people pushing back, trying to create some breathing room from an ever encroaching puritanical, theocratic, police state. Then again, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the problem is just "too many queers!"

While i I don't like police most of the time. I believe this guy has got it right.
