I've been reading up on this new air craft of ours. She is going to be one bad ass bitch. It's going to make the current stealth B2 and etc seem to be obsolete. A lot of new tech will be going into this. I imagine that it will be able to penetrate any airspace on this planet without being detected while still being highly useful in other areas. All the lessons of the last thirty years will be boiled down to this very dangerous for our enemies machine. I can't wait!

I will never complain about money being spent for military purpose because it is put to get potential use. And can be reused and resold.

There's definitely legitimate military spending. Useful programs often go on to bring in more than they cost, like how NASA used to bring in something like $10 for every $1 invested. Additionally, technology shouldn't be left stagnant, as you will quickly be left behind. This is true anywhere, especially militarily.

However, not every big project is worth it. The F-35 is probably the best example of boondoggle there is. I see it as equal to the freebies we hand out to anyone with some extra melanin. Spend as much as you like, as long as there's a return on it, such that it pays for itself or is a truly necessary system.

Government institutions and contractors should not be given a blank check, including the military.

I believe the F35 is a case of politics sticking it fucking nose in to where it doesn't belong. The f35 is a very nice craft. Its implementation has been horrible though due to fucking politicians. The technology it has is leaps and bounds better than anything else, but with anything new there are going to be hiccups and of course fucking politicians don't like it when you make them a liar when a date gets missed. Plus the politicians trying to make it replace the a10 which is just stupid.

Overall I think people shit to hard on the f35 JSF but some of it is justified, just not at the air craft, but at the fucking politicians.

edited to add: politicians fucked up NASA also. They haven't accomplished anything in 20 years. They are to political like how they worry about reaching out to Muslims. All they do is draw pretty pictures now of stuff that may work. lol it's a disgrace.

yes. I agree. They have done something. But that something that they have done is nothing new. They have just continued to use ideas and devices that their betters had left them before NASA went downhill. They have innovated nothing.

The heavy oil is probably life based but gas isn't (edit: it can be but most gas simply arise from natural chemistry). Most of the rest of the solar system is made of natural gas. Jupiter is 300 times the mass of the Earth and it's mostly gas! Energy enough to run our world for the 5 billion years until our planet dies when the sun goes boom. With plenty left over. Energy isn't something we'll ever be short until the universe itself starts to die hundreds of trillions of years from now.

Yet some think it's a good idea to turn farm land into ethanol factories.

Shit. The moon is full of hydrogen from what I understand. We could have easily be using that. What's more there is a type of nuclear reactor that uses, I forgot the name, I will look it up. But it uses a product that is so abundant here on earth and is safe. We would never run out.

They are called Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactors. They are super efficient. Super safe. Can be made small to run things like ships, planes, cars, etc etc. We would never run out of fuel. No disasters.
