    1984 :

    or, Nineteen Eighty-Four

"Nineteen Eighty-Four, often published as 1984, is a dystopiannovel by English author George Orwell published in 1949.[1][2] The novel is set in Airstrip One (formerly known as Great Britain), a province of the superstate Oceania in a world of perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance and public manipulation, dictated by a political system euphemistically named English Socialism (or Ingsoc in the government's invented language,Newspeak) under the control of a privileged elite of the Inner Party, that persecutes individualism and independent thinking as "thoughtcrime.""

!984 was supposed to be a warning, not an instruction manual.

I was 3 years old in 1984. I had just graduated High School and I really liked mac n cheese in a jar.

"We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now you begin to understand me.”

Another good topic Talon. It's been a long time since I read 1984 but i found a couple of things in your posts interesting. First is that the Proles at the moment are a bunch of easily swayed voters with the illusion that they have actual political power. The ruling class uses them to gain more power.

I was reading something late a few days ago and one quote stayed with me. The author said that the word "capitalism" was first used by Marx and we should be careful about letting our enemies define or label us.
