Young girl from Ohio died after getting the brain eating amoeba in North Carolina.

I just couldn't image how horrible way to go. Got to be careful around standing water.

Couple years ago a guy down in Louisanna got it from his own house water. He was doing the sinus thing with the water. Found out his pipes were full of amoeba

First time I ever heard of brain eating amoeba I was driving in Florida listening to talk radio, when the news break they said a teen boy died from brain amoeba from swimming in a lake.

I'm thinking WHAT!! It like took me a few seconds to process it all. I have swimmer in several lakes, even a stock pond in Kansas when I was a teen. Guess I was real lucky in that pond.

Then when I was station in Jax they had a red algae problem in the St. Johns River.

One person died that had an open sore and another almost died when they scraped a leg or knee while jet sking.

Its like the issue with the gators. They only eat the stupid. If you stick your foot in the water and its warm, don't swim in it. Chances are there are amoeba in it. Us Floridians call it population control. We have not only survived here for generations but thrived. So I'm supposed to feel bad because some idiot got themselves killed?

I've hesitated saying this and I'm genuinely surprised no one else has. Here or elsewhere. Orlando, that shooting. 49 victims dead and one shooter dead. Had that not happened, had they all lived including the shooter, every last one of them would have voted for Clinton. That's just mind-boggling.

We've had a fair bit of that over the years in Rotorua; it's well known never to put your head under water at the hot springs. I remember being warned about it as a little child.
