You cannot destroy an ideal. You can quash it into hiding as most religions have done to their insidious pasts. Fundamental Islam must be rejected by its constituents, much like black on black crime must also be rejected.

America has fought off the KKK, Black panthers, Westborough Baptist church, the mafia, the native Americans, and the south. I don't illustrate these as moral successes in any inclination, but as empirical evidence that you can quash a populace should the majority desire it for their greater good.
